Dr. Kristy (Frazer) Chunta is from South Fork, PA and a graduate of Forest Hills High School Sidman, Pennsylvania.  She attended Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s School of Nursing and was a 1994 Diploma graduate.  She completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Indiana, PA, and a PhD in Nursing from West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia.  Her dissertation research examined expectations, anxiety, and depression of open-heart surgery patients.

Dr. Chunta is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Master’s Program in the Department of Nursing and Allied Health Professions at IUP.  She teaches at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, and continues to conduct research with open-heart patients.  She has been married for over 10 years to Bob Chunta, Jr. from South Fork, Pennsylvania.  They have two living children: Mitchell Robert and Julia Peyton Chunta.  Their second child, Lucas Matthew Chunta was born and died on August 3, 2004..
